Exhausted Moms - Do This First to Heal Your Child

Heal the Mother

Throughout this week, I've been sharing the root causes and hidden stressors™ that are causing our children to fall sick. It's only natural for parents to want to jump in immediately and give their full attention to their kids.

But, I want to pause here for a sec and ask a very important question. How can we, as parents, heal our kids if we're not well ourselves?

When we're exhausted, depleted, and running on fumes trying to add more on top of our already full to-do list creates overwhelm, which is counterproductive to healing.

We've all been there... yelling at our kids when we're exhausted, eating out because we don't have the energy to cook, losing our cool and wishing we’d handled things better.

I'm not a perfect parent. I've certainly been there and done that. You probably have, too. And it's not a good feeling.

So, today I want to focus on the importance of healing the parents.

Or as the saying in Chinese medicine goes, "heal the mother, heal the child".

Because if we're not well, we can't be there for our kids in the ways they need us most. We can't show up with energy and enthusiasm. We can't be patient and compassionate. We can't provide a sense of safety and security.

Sometimes it's a hard decision to put yourself first.

Personally, I had a lot of programming that said it was selfish. I'm learning that it's quite the opposite.

When we were all exposed to mold and got sick, I was in such a low place I had no choice but to put myself first. The boys were really struggling. Even so, getting my health back on track had to be prioritized so I could help them without being completely overwhelmed.

Prioritizing my self-care makes it less stressful to help my boys most days. Life is life and there are still some tough days, but we're getting so much more resilient.

Before you get the wrong idea that I'm somehow spending hours on self-care, let me make an important distinction...

...It's NOT lip service about getting to bed on time, eating organic, and exercising more. Or adding more onto an already full plate.

Self Care Is

Rather, it's about restoring the body's healing mechanisms by addressing the hidden stressors™ that are zapping our energy. It starts by getting our bodies back into a state where they are sleeping deeply, recharging fully, so we have energy that lasts until the end of the day.

And, as I like to say, you don't have to give up your modern conveniences, move to a mountain top and become a goat farmer.

Self-care gurus are not talking about these hidden stressors™. And I can't help but roll my eyes when I hear them talk about all the extra things we need to do for self-care without offering any meaningful solutions to profoundly increase energy

Isn't it time to prioritize your self-care?

If you want to join me in taking the first step, please watch for my email on Monday. I'm going to be inviting you to learn more about a cutting edge program that helps parents rapidly increase energy so they can get their health back on track!

And don’t worry, I’m not gonna Oprah you or waste your time telling you about things that don’t actually work anymore!
